With the exhibition RUPTURE, Arjan van Helmond has invited a number of artists in whom he recognises the embodiment of this attitude. He brings together artists who each use their experiences or memories in a distinctive way to approach seemingly mundane matters from a new perspective. Just as staring into the darkness or emptiness sometimes conjures images that aren\u2019t real, the exhibited works evoke perceptions, associations, or hallucinations out of nothingness that can emotionally affect us. RUPTURE is about personally forcing a rupture with the existing, forcing a crisis or change to achieve a fundamental transformation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2025<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work Undertones<\/em> by Aukje Koks is a silkscreen print with a photo print on paper, A2 size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This print, created as an assignment for a Wiels auction in 2012, is derived from a previously made painting, also titled Undertones<\/em>, but that one is an actual Venetian blind with a painting (oil on canvas) behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work, featuring a glove in an interior space, conveys a certain intimacy. By printing the Venetian blind as a silkscreen over a photo print, layers are added. The Venetian blind has a voyeuristic quality, and the hand reaches for something behind a wall that is invisible. At the same time, a part of the Venetian blind is omitted. Aukje Koks finds the silkscreen technique particularly beautiful, as its inherent transparency due to the raster effect adds a subtle intimacy to the image.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
